Background
URS was hired by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Albuquerque District, to study the Fountain Creek Watershed. The purpose of the study was to document the characteristics, general conditions, and health of the Fountain Creek Watershed at the current time. The baseline environmental data provided in Section 2 through 10 will be used to help identify areas where restoration projects would be feasible and beneficial. Section 11 outlines the restoration opportunities identified in the watershed as a cumulative result of the studies. The Fountain Creek Watershed encompasses approximately 927 square miles and covers 11 municipalities and parts of three counties: El Paso, Park, and Teller.
